In response to the problem that the communication application LINE made it possible to access user's personal information etc. from China etc., the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications has set up a new expert meeting to deal with data security management and cyber security measures of communication companies etc. I decided to consider a plan.

On the 26th, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications told the company that the management system and explanations to users were not sufficient due to problems such as LINE making user's personal information accessible from China and managing it in South Korea. We provided administrative guidance.

Regarding this, Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications Takeda told reporters after the Cabinet meeting on the 27th, "We will pay attention to the content of the guidance."

After that, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications has set up a new meeting of experts, and made it clear that it will consider countermeasures for data security management and cyber security measures of telecommunications companies.

The Council of Experts will hold its first meeting next month with the participation of university professors and lawyers, and will consider creating rules for handling data after understanding the data management system within the company.

Based on the discussions at the meeting, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications intends to encourage telecommunications companies to strengthen their data management system and create an environment where users can use telecommunications services with peace of mind.
