Our family has known Shu Yi for more than 20 years, and we all call him "Big Brother Shu Yi".

On his 75th birthday, he said to me, "I still have 10 years to run, and I want to give the country more advice on cultural protection."

He especially likes to make friends, and he is very sincere to friends.

So today (April 27), we must say goodbye to Brother Shu with the whole family.

[Explanation] At 8 o'clock in the morning, the farewell ceremony officially began. Two large screens outside the hall were cyclically displaying Shu Yi's paintings and calligraphy works before his death, as well as pictures of him with family and friends.

In the farewell hall, Shu Yi's body was lying quietly in the center.

"Deeply miss Mr. Shu Yi" written at the top of the hall.

The surroundings are filled with wreaths and elegiac couplets presented by all walks of life.

[Explanation] At the scene, the 92-year-old Beijing People's Performing Arts artist Li Bin came to express his condolences in person.

She and the Shu family became attached to each other because of drama. Although Shu Yi came from an engineering background, she had a more unique understanding of literary and painting research and creation.

From the drama "Longxugou", it became a bond.

The Jinyuchi community is the original Longxugou. Every community festival, Shu Yi will go there.

Just like my family, so I said I must come today (April 27).

He had an engineering background and (and later) exposure to culture, but he was extremely talented.

The combination of "gong" and "wen" made him think more and deeper.

[Commentary] Yu Runqi, a researcher at the Museum of Modern Chinese Literature, also came to bid farewell to his old colleagues.

He recalled that Shu Yi, who was already in his sixties, devoted all his efforts to the preparation and construction of the Museum of Modern Chinese Literature.

Work tirelessly for the country's cultural undertakings.

In 1983, we planned to build the Modern Literature Museum, and in 1985 we all went to the Literature Museum together.

From the construction of the old pavilion to the completion of the new pavilion, Mr. Shu Yi's painstaking efforts have been devoted here.

From the construction of the new hall to the exhibition and display, all these designs are Mr. Shu Yi. In these words, he is a "chief designer" in the construction of the new hall.

He also spared no effort to protect the old city of Beijing.

[Concurrent] Yao Dezhu, President of Beijing Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Research Society

Mr. Shu Yi is the honorary president of our calligraphy and painting association. He often participates in our activities to give guidance and help to our members.

In a particularly impressive sentence, he said, "Painting and calligraphy should serve Beijing."

Mr. Shu Yi passed away, we are very uncomfortable, we are also very sad, we will always miss him.
