• The city of Nice offers a program to monitor physical, psychological and also dietetic activities, dedicated to “Covid long” patients.

  • The sessions take place at the Center Animanice Gorbella, at the Center Animanice Constanzo and at the Charles Ehrmann sports park to offer "a local service".

  • Each slot can accommodate six people, everything is cleaned and disinfected before and after the exercises.

"We contract the abdominals and we gently slide the arm along the thigh, launches Aurélien Lazzaro, referent of the Acti'Santé device in the city of Nice.

We repeat this movement ten times on each side ”.

For two weeks, the “Covid long” program was launched for the patients of Nice of Covid-19 who still suffer from symptoms related to the disease.

Twelve face-to-face sports activity sessions are offered in addition to dietary and psychological support.

"We start with a physical test to best target the needs and desires of each person," says Charlène Falzo, coordinator of the program.

Sessions adapted for everyone

After the test, the program begins with a muscle building session that the coach has adapted according to the people present because “everyone lives their post-coronavirus life differently”. He explains: “You have to play sports with the consequences of a new disease. For this, we were inspired by those that resembled him, especially in terms of respiratory problems or related to fatigue. We also do a lot of scientific monitoring and we work with doctors to apply their recommendations to exercises. This is also the particularity of our profession, we pay attention to the well-being of all. "

At the end of this support, the goal is for patients to continue to practice independently.

The system is then supplemented by videoconference sessions and 20-minute video capsules to be performed at home.

For Aurélien Lazzaro, physical activity is the “main treatment for regaining a better life and strengthening one's immunity against disease”.

An opinion shared by Josiane Baudinetto and Martine Folton, 70 and 71 years old.

"After having had the Covid-19 and being locked up, I needed to work out," says Martine Folton.

It feels really good.

In addition, it is also a way of having social ties ”.

Josiane Baudinetto adds: “We almost have the impression of having a private lesson”.

10% of Covid patients still suffer from symptoms three months later

Since September, Barbara Prot, municipal councilor in charge of health prevention and health education, has been working to set up these sessions. “We noticed that 25% of people who had Covid-19 still had symptoms four weeks later and 10% three months later. We therefore wanted to offer support to these patients so that they regain a better quality of life, ”she explains.

“It's really good to take, loose Lara, 48, a caregiver who caught the virus at the end of January. For two months, I have been doing cardiorespiratory rehabilitation with a physiotherapist, but I feel completely destroyed. I lost five pounds, mostly muscle mass. But it is above all morally that it is atrocious. And the worst part is, I can't even get mad because my heart can't take it and I'm getting out of breath. I rely a lot on this device to advance my condition and so that I relearn to love my body ”.

Beyond physical fitness, the service completes the offer with a session with a dietician and a session with a psychologist.

The coordinator explains: “Because of the loss of smell and taste, some people need to relearn how to eat properly.

For example, you can salt more to find the flavors of a food but cause high blood pressure.

The system provides support in all these stages ”.

A program that the city will extend "until there is no more Covid", specifies the city councilor.

For registrations, requests are made by email to sportsante@ville-nice.fr or by phone at 06.13.05.35.73.

A medical prescription is required and "it's free for all Niçois".
