The greening project of the Caohe Ecological Corridor in Xushui District, Baoding City, which started construction in 2019, is 20 kilometers long and covers an area of about 20,000 acres. It aims to "create an inter-city ecological landscape belt and connect with the greening of the Xiong'an New District". The tree species planted in the project includes evergreen, deciduous trees, and sub-arbor shrubs, which are used to create a blue-green ecological landscape belt surrounded by blue and green rivers.
The construction of ecological corridors on both banks of the lower Caohe River effectively reduced the exploitation of groundwater and protected the water source of the upper reaches of Baiyangdian Lake.
