It has become clear and certain that we are facing a new type of media that some call “globalized media,” and like any media, it is a double-edged sword, but the weapon of social media is much more dangerous, so why?

Social media has become the most dangerous player in our life due to its wide spread. The number of active accounts on social media applications and sites «YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn» in the UAE reached 32.73 million accounts, last year.

We also consume social media content more than others. According to the Canadian HootSuite Foundation, Arab countries outperform developed countries in the duration of Internet use by more than an hour and a half per day at least. For your information, the average user browsing time in the UAE reached three hours and 53 Accurate.

This means that there cannot be a person in the UAE who does not have an account, or accounts, on social media, and this conclusion often includes children who may not be more than five years old, so social media celebrities have become influential in the lives of a large segment of people, She hears them and trusts them, asks them for solutions and recipes, to deal with all their problems, and they act upon them without hesitation.

Let us also acknowledge that the Emirati family is facing new challenges due to social communication. The family whose children live under one roof now includes great disparities between their children, and each of them has his own lifestyle, and what our children take from the values and ideas of “social communication”, much more From what they take from us, parents, grandparents, grandmothers, relatives and friends.

The beloved brilliant broadcaster, Muhammad Al-Kaabi, at the Ramadan Council organized by the Sharjah Press Club, finally asked me about the danger of the "emptiness celebrity" segment. They are some of the social media celebrities I spoke about in yesterday's article, who do not own and do not provide anything useful. I replied that they are One of the most dangerous groups for future generations. Earlier, our children were aware that success in studies is a key to success in life, and now many of them believe that the number of followers (Floods) is the basis of success!

Some studies have monitored the effects of social communication on children and youth, and have reported dire consequences such as introversion, isolation, depression, and the inability to communicate directly with society.

Also, the ease of fame has very dangerous aspects, as the obsession with fame may lead some to spread rumors, lies and fabricate fictitious stories, and this is unfortunately a mistake that some may fall into, even those with experience and know-how.

The standards of fame have been seriously disturbed. In the past, a researcher, academic, athlete, and artist had to fight for years, endure fatigue and pay a heavy price from his life and the life of his family to be famous, but now a "famous" or "famous" may be born among us in a quarter of an hour, so it is not It is absolutely strange if we ask our children at this time about their future ambitions, and the job they want to occupy, to hear a common answer, which is "YouTuber" or "Fashionista", while the aspirations of the youngsters several years ago hovered around "a doctor, engineer, officer, teacher." !

Sociologists assert that "some" of the famous people are originally those who suffer isolation in their societies, and they have many psychological problems and frustrations and did not receive the necessary treatment, but they found in "social communication" a haven for them, and they generate income because of this fame .. What is being proposed Next question: What content can these frustrated and emotionally tired people provide?

What ruin could they bring to our societies ?!
