The Danish alcohol drama "Another Round", starring Mads Mikkelsen, appealed to the Oscar jury.

The film is about a group of high school teachers who try to chase away the gray everyday lukewarmness with an alcohol experiment.

From the stage at Union Station in Los Angeles Thomas Vinterberg was noticeably moved when he received his first Oscar on the podium at Union Station in Los Angeles.

- I have been preparing speeches of thanks since I was five years old - at train stations, at school, at the toilet - and now I am here.

"A miracle"

Vinterberg dedicated the prize to his daughter who would have played Mads Mikkelsen's daughter in the film.

But days before the recording, she tragically died in a car accident, only 19 years old.

- We miss her and love her.

Ida, this is a miracle that just happened and you're part of it.

Maybe you have pulled in some threads, but this is for you.

Thomas Vinterberg was also nominated for best director.

There, the prize went instead to Chloé Zhao for favorite tipped Nomadland.
