Before Children's Day on the 5th of next month, Kokeshi dolls in the shape of warriors are being actively made in Kuroishi City, Aomori Prefecture.

At the Tsugaru Kokeshi Museum in Kuroishi City, a craftsman, Rokuchihide Abo, is making kokeshi dolls in the shape of a warrior before Children's Day.

Mr. Abo cuts the Acer mono tree attached to the electric rokuro with a chisel or sandpaper to make it look like a warrior, and then carefully draws the pattern of the bite with a dye such as purple or black on the brush.

The completed armored warrior kokeshi doll has a sharply raised eyebrow and a tightly tied mouth, giving it a lovely expression even in its gracefulness.

There are two heights, 24 cm and 12 cm, and a sword made by the kokeshi doll technique and a fish carp are included in the set.

Mr. Rokutomo Abo said, "I am making it while hoping for the healthy growth of children. I want you to decorate it wherever you like and enjoy it."

This "Kuroishi Warrior Kokeshi" is sold at the Tsugaru Kokeshi Museum in Kuroishi City for 11,000 yen and 7,700 yen per set.
