On April 22, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment issued a report on typical cases of destructive mining and illegal construction of Fengshan Global Geopark.

In April 2021, the Seventh Central Ecological and Environmental Protection Inspection Team inspected Hechi City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and discovered that the protection of Fengshan Global Geopark made way for project development, resulting in national-level geological heritage sites and part of the protected area land being used for illegal approval. The problem of mineral resources and real estate development is very prominent.

  On the same day, the heads of various departments of the local government went to the Fengshanpo Xiongbao quarry, Chuanlongyan health and elderly resort base site, Liangli quarry, etc., to understand the destructive mining and illegal construction problems on the spot.

It is required that the main responsibilities of illegal mining enterprises and the supervision responsibilities of relevant departments shall be investigated according to the actual situation in accordance with laws and regulations; the rectification plan shall be improved, the rectification time shall be clarified, and the destructive mining and illegal construction of Fengshan Global Geopark shall be followed up in a scientific and orderly manner Remediation.

Improve planning and revision to better realize the purpose of protection of the World Geopark; carry out in-depth self-examination and self-correction of environmental protection issues, and promptly rectify problems when problems are found to ensure that timely rectification is in place.
