• After two months of increase, the number of contaminations seems to be decreasing in Pays-de-la-Loire.

  • However, it is premature to relax the efforts, warns the ARS.

After two months of increase, the coronavirus epidemic has started to decrease slightly for a few days in Pays-de-la-Loire, according to the latest epidemiological data published by the regional health agency (ARS). This Friday, the regional incidence rate thus stood at 275 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, whereas it was 305 a week earlier. It is in Loire-Atlantique that the situation is the least worrying (243) and in Sarthe that it is the most (442). The national incidence rate, which follows the same downward trend, amounts to 329 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

The rate of positivity of Pays-de-la-Loire, it is not decreasing (9.3% of positive cases among the tests) but is marking time, which is "a good sign", notes the ARS.

“Unlike the second wave, the recession is quite slow.

This is very probably due to the effect of the variants which are more contagious ”, estimates Jean-Jacques Coiplet, regional director of the ARS.

The indicators, however, remain at "a level far too high to relax the efforts," he insists.

The milestone of one million vaccinated has been reached

The number of hospitalizations continues to increase slightly, as does the number of patients hospitalized in intensive care.

Some 54 people died in one week from Covid-19 in Pays-de-la-Loire.

Mortality remains much lower than that of the first and second waves, undoubtedly due to the vaccination of the most vulnerable people.

Precisely, the Pays-de-la-Loire region crossed the symbolic milestone of one million people vaccinated on Friday.

The vaccination rate for the entire population now stands at nearly 20%.

Over 70% of people over 75 are also vaccinated.
