Ukrainian friends have updated the line of sanctions recommendations. They did not introduce anything new and original into it, having borrowed an idea from their American comrades. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba at a video conference with the heads of the EU foreign ministries called for considering the possibility of "disconnecting Russia" from the international system for transferring interbank payments SWIFT. The videoconference itself took place on April 19, Mr. Kuleba told Reuters about his proposal on April 22.

It is well known that the current Ukrainian government is not very friendly towards Russia. But such proposals look frankly ridiculous. Kuleba actually recommended that Europeans resort to extreme measures, comparable to declaring a large-scale financial war. The idea is not new - it was first considered back in 2014 after the annexation of Crimea to Russia. However, then it was abandoned: it would seriously complicate the sale of Russian gas and oil to Europe, and also hit European companies working with Russia. To think that Europeans, who are cautious and accustomed to counting money, have changed their approaches and are ready to take extreme measures is the height of stupidity and recklessness. However, this is not the first time the Ukrainian leadership has entered the international level with childish and absurd projects, believing that they are feasible.

Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunications is an international transfer system created in 1973 and has not lost its relevance to this day.

Almost 12 thousand financial institutions and banks from around the world use it when working with clients.

Thanks to SWIFT, everyone can send cash within the territory of his country and beyond its borders, which quickly reaches the recipients.

The threat of disconnecting Russia from the system was adopted by the American authorities.

This has been discussed in Washington for over three years now.

At the same time, the headquarters of the organization is located in Belgium, and representatives of SWIFT have repeatedly argued that American politicians do not have the ability to exert any influence on it.

There are only two precedents for shutdown - Iran and North Korea were punished.

The sanctions imposed on Russia since 2014 are traditionally structured in such a way that they cause as little damage as possible to the countries that impose them.

In case of disconnection from the payment system, the losses will be irreparable for Europe.

Therefore, the likelihood that the Europeans will agree to this is extremely small.

In essence, Kuleba proposed a devastating blow to the European economy and finances.

This is a great move, given that Ukraine's hysterical behavior, which does not in the slightest degree take into account the interests of other countries, has become boring for everyone.

Moreover, there are practically no grounds for restrictions now. The situation in Donbass is gradually stabilizing, Kiev itself, through the mouth of the president and other officials, declares that it has no aggressive intentions. The political and military situation in eastern Ukraine gives less and less grounds for accusations against Moscow, although it is not worth believing that they will ever run out.

It is clear that the Ukrainian authorities, with their unrealizable proposals, have by no means exhausted their potential hostile to Russia.

Her dream is to draw military force from the outside into the Donbas conflict.

So that military personnel from Europe and the United States would stand shoulder to shoulder with the Ukrainian soldiers of light at the forefront.

This plan has zero prospects at all, but requests for military assistance are regularly heard from Kiev.

Ukrainian politicians are realists of the highest standard.

For whatever they undertake, they succeed.
