China News Service, Yiyang, April 24 (Li Chenggang) The new story of bamboo shoots growing on the floor of a teacher's dormitory at Jing Elementary School in Taojiang County, Yiyang City, Hunan Province, has recently become a "net red shoot" in the circle of friends.

Nowadays, bamboo shoots are still growing, which will have a certain impact on the school building. For safety reasons, the school plans to dig out the "net red shoots" and add cement in the near future.

Mo Xiaoyan is the office director of Taojiang County Jing Primary School, and this bamboo shoot grew out of her dormitory.

In 2019, after being admitted to the education system, Mo Xiaoyan entered Jing Elementary School to teach Chinese.

At the end of March this year, when Mo Xiaoyan was resting in her dormitory, she found a bulge on the concrete floor with signs of cracking.

At first, Mo Xiaoyan thought it was a problem with the age of the house, so she didn't care.

But less than a week later, the cracked place became higher and higher, as if something was about to grow out.

Mo Xiaoyan called a colleague to pry open the arched concrete floor, only to find that a cup-sized bamboo shoot had grown out.

Mo Xiaoyan, who saw bamboo shoots growing in the house for the first time, was also very surprised. Instead of digging out the bamboo shoots directly, she chose to let it accompany her and be her "roommate", and recorded the growth of the bamboo shoots with her mobile phone. Happening.

Over time, bamboo shoots can grow about 3 cm per day. In less than 20 days, bamboo shoots have grown to the ceiling and reached more than 3 meters high.

So why did Mr. Mo’s dormitory suddenly grow bamboo shoots?

Xiong Chengcan, the principal of Jing Elementary School, said that the teaching building and dormitory of Jing Elementary School were built around the 1980s. The school used to be a bamboo forest. It was leveled because of the need to build the school building.

However, bamboo has strong vitality, resistance to drought and cold, and there is a small bamboo forest outside the dormitory only by a wall. New bamboo shoots will grow around every March.

"It's the first time to break through the concrete from the teachers' dormitory."

Mo Xiaoyan also witnessed the character of bamboo shoots of “tenacity and hard work” after getting along for nearly a month.

Mo Xiaoyan said that this bamboo forest has experienced ups and downs and has also witnessed the growth of Jing Elementary School, which is still dense today.

"As a young rural teacher, we must take root at the grassroots level like a bamboo, use our knowledge to nurture more'spring shoots', and contribute to rural education!" (End)
