Regarding the new coronavirus vaccine, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare has decided to allow dentists to inoculate as a special case only in areas where the nurses required for inoculation cannot be secured.

This was decided at a study meeting of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare held on the 23rd.

Since vaccination is a medical practice, it is stipulated by law that doctors and nurses who receive instructions from doctors should do it, but there are voices saying that it is difficult to secure a bearer mainly in urban areas where there are many vaccination targets. It has come out.

For this reason, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare proposed to the study group to allow dentists to inoculate under certain conditions as a special case.

Specifically, it is intended for areas where it is not possible to secure the nurses required for vaccination, and only at the venue of group vaccination with a doctor, subject to the consent of the person receiving the vaccination.

Also, since vaccination with the new coronavirus is done by intramuscular injection, it is limited to dentists who have experience or training in intramuscular injection.

According to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, "Dentists sometimes administer painkillers by intramuscular injection before surgery, and they are also learning basic knowledge in the training course. We would like to provide sufficient training to inexperienced people." It is said.
