Radio Television Hong Kong director Cai Yuling convicted of two false statements and fined 6,000 Hong Kong dollars

On the 22nd, the Hong Kong West Kowloon Magistrates' Court ruled that Radio Television Hong Kong director Cai Yuling was charged with two counts of making false statements and fined 6,000 Hong Kong dollars.

In July 2020, during the production of the investigation report on the "721 Yuen Long incident" during the 2019 legislative turmoil, the director of Radio Hong Kong, Cai Yuling, passed the "license plate search", that is, to check the car registration records. Information about car owners on site and interview them.

On the 22nd, the judge stated that the defendant used the information to find the identity of the car owner for interviews and reports, but this was not the purpose she reported when she applied for a "license plate search" online.

When the defendant applied, he knew clearly that the application was for interviews and reports, and it was not an option provided by the Transport Department.

Therefore, it was determined that the defendant "knowingly" made a false statement and was convicted of the crime.
