In Occitania, in the town of Tarascon-sur-Ariège, wearing a mask has not been compulsory for a few days now.

It is "a little air of freedom", according to the mayor Alain Sutra, who welcomes this "small step forward, even if it is modest and remains fragile" at the microphone of Europe 1.

Is the end of the mask coming soon?

"The feeling of seeing each other again is a little air of freedom, because for a long time, we only saw part of the face", rejoices Alain Sutra, the mayor of the town, at the microphone of Europe 1. "And then, beyond seeing each other again, it is easier to communicate, because the mask is an obstacle", he explains.

The mask still compulsory in markets and near schools

The mayor also sees in this stage the return to a semblance of life from before.

"You know, at the moment, it's difficult, we can't meet in cultural places or in social places like cafes or restaurants. So seeing each other is already a small step forward, even if she is modest and remains fragile, "he explains.

The mask is still compulsory in certain areas of the town.

"In all enclosed places, in particular in markets and 50 meters from schools," says Alain Sutra, who invites those who wish to keep the mask outside to do so.
