In the film, the journalist Mobeen Azhar will, among other things, go to Britney Spears' hometown Kentwood to investigate the complex circumstances surrounding the guardianship, Music-news reports.
He also takes part in the fan-driven movement #freebritney and interviews, among others, Britney Spears' former make-up artist and her choreographer.
Blogger Perez Hilton and lawyer Lisa MacCarley are also involved.
The film premieres on BBC iPlayer on May 1.
Netflix is also behind a Britney Spears documentary, which does not yet have a clear release date. Behind that project is the filmmaker Erin Lee Carr, who specializes in true crime documentaries.
