At about 11:40 on April 20, the ro-ro passenger ship "Zhonghua Fuqiang" berthed at Weihai Port deflagrated.

On the afternoon of April 21, the Emergency Rescue Headquarters reported on the rescue and disposal situation. It was preliminarily determined that the deflagration accident of the ro-ro passenger ship was caused by the spontaneous combustion of the silicon mud carried by the truck on the ship.

According to Zhang Guangshi, executive deputy general manager of Weihai Haida Passenger Transport Co., Ltd., "Zhonghua Fuqiang" is a large luxury ro-ro passenger ship with a total length of 186 meters and a width of 28.6 meters. It has 9 continuous decks and a gross tonnage of 37,833 tons.

The affiliated company is Weihai Haida Passenger Transport Co., Ltd.

At 21:40 on April 19, the ship carried 677 passengers, 162 vehicles, and 85 crew members.

After the security check, we sailed from Weihai to Dalian.

At 22:07 the ship sailed to a distance of about 10 nautical miles from Weihai. The inspector found that the cargo carried by a truck had spontaneously combusted.

The security checklist showed that the goods were silicon mud.

The captain immediately activated the emergency plan and organized personnel to enter the cabin to put out the fire.

22:19 The open flame is under control.

At 22:29, the captain entered the cabin for inspection, and the on-site assessment concluded that there was a possibility of re-ignition.

In order to ensure the safety of passengers, we decisively ask the Weihai City Maritime Search and Rescue Center to maneuver the ship to return, and seal the cabin to release the fixed CO2 fire extinguishing system in the vehicle cabin.

At 00:03 on April 20th, the ship safely docked at Xingang Passenger Terminal. At 00:25, all passengers disembarked safely and were properly diverted and resettled.

After the passengers evacuated, the ship's fire-fighting disposal was under the unified command of the on-site headquarters. At present, the company's crew are participating in the on-site rescue operation.

In the next step, the focus will be on the aftermath of passengers and compensation for vehicles and cargo.
