The RKI has counted
3,163,308
detected infections with Sars-CoV-2 in Germany
since the beginning of the pandemic
. The actual total number is likely to be significantly higher, as many infections are not detected. The RKI
stated the
number of those who had
recovered
at
around
2,803,600
. The total number of people who died with or with a proven infection with Sars-CoV-2 rose to
80,303
.
The nationwide seven-day R-value was
1.06
according to the RKI management report from Monday evening
(previous day: 1.16).
This means that 100 infected people theoretically infect 106 more people.
The R-value represents the occurrence of the infection 8 to 16 days ago.
If it is below 1 for a longer period of time, the infection process subsides;
if it is consistently higher, the number of cases increases.

Coronavirus worldwide
Within a week, more new corona infections were reported worldwide than ever before.
There were 5.2 million new cases, the eighth consecutive weekly increase, World Health Organization (WHO) chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said in Geneva.
The number of reported deaths rose for the fifth consecutive time on a weekly basis.
"It took nine months to get a million deaths, four months to get to two million, and three months to get to three million," said Tedros.
The experts are particularly concerned about the increase in corona infections and hospital admissions among 25 to 59-year-olds.
This is possibly due to the more contagious variants and the fact that there is more social contact in these age groups, says Tedros.
