"Live on tape" is an expression that you will have to get used to in this year's edition of the Eurovision Song Contest.

What this means is that all participants will need to make a pre-recorded appearance of the contribution that can be shown if the artist will not be able to attend the competitions in Rotterdam.

Now the Australian delegation is leaving but that they will definitely make their appearance "live on tape".

This after the Australian television company SBS said that the delegation will not be able to travel to the Netherlands for the Eurovision Song Contest.

The head of the Australian delegation, Josh Martin, writes in a press release:

"SBS has decided not to send an Australian delegation and artist to Rotterdam for this year's Eurovision Song Contest.

We came to this difficult decision after considering the effects of the ongoing pandemic and the many risks of traveling to the event from Australia. ”

Australia will first compete in the semi-finals on Tuesday 18 May.
