Four people were killed Sunday in Saint-Pathus in the north of Seine-et-Marne in the accident of a tourist plane which had taken off from Beauvais (Oise), said the firefighters of the department.

The Robin DR400-type aircraft was found around 2:00 p.m. in a field 50 meters from a departmental road.

A judicial inquiry has been opened to determine the circumstances of the accident.

According to the first elements transmitted by the aerodrome of Lognes-Emerainville, "it was about an instruction flight".

The damaged tourist plane is "of French manufacture, legally limited to" visual flights ", no more than 15,000 feet in altitude, or 500 m," said the aerodrome.

The accident occurred about twenty kilometers from the runways at Roissy airport, north of Paris.

The research section of the gendarmerie went to the scene of the accident where, according to the firefighters, a strong smell of kerosene was detected.
