French rapper Youssoupha, whose sixth album "Neptune Terminus" was released last March, is the guest on Thursday on the show "C'est du bien".

He explains to Anne Roumanoff's microphone his decision to go live in Ivory Coast with his wife and children.

INTERVIEW

In 2016, the French rapper Youssoupha decided to move to Abidjan, the capital of Côte d'Ivoire.

A decision on which he would not go back today for the world, as he explained Thursday at the microphone of Anne Roumanoff in the show

It feels good

.

"For five years, our children have been growing up there, and we too have been growing up there," he explains, speaking of him and his wife.

Youssoupha writes and composes from Côte d'Ivoire.

The French singer was born in today's Democratic Republic of Congo, but his wife is of Chadian and Ivorian descent.

"We both grew up in Africa. We had our years in France where we met, and then we wanted something else," he recalls.

"And we went to settle in Côte d'Ivoire, because it is a country that attracted us."

Move to follow his wife

A decision not always understood by those around him.

"I am amazed by the way people reacted when I said I was going back to live in Africa", laughs Youssoupha.

"They say to me 'But why are you making this sacrifice?', When it's quite the opposite: I have a bigger house, a better quality of life, and my children are more fulfilled."

It is also to follow his wife that Youssoupha and his family have moved.

“She has followed me all my life, on trips, tours, etc.,” he explains, grateful.

"She had plans of her own, I could follow her. I did and I don't regret it. She's very fulfilled."

To make the way in the opposite direction would be in any case impossible.

"If I decided right away to go home, my wife would divorce!", Bursts out laughing the rapper.
