Three months later, the managers of 250 ski shops, who consider themselves "in absolute urgency", have just written to the Prime Minister to ask for their difficulties to be better taken into account.

Led by the Sport and Cycle Union, which brings together the sector, the signatories wish to draw Jean Castex's attention to the specificity of mountain shops which generate most of their turnover over the few winter months.

The loss of activity for them amounts to 85% of a year pre-Covid-19, they estimate, adding that “28% [of companies] have consumed more than half of their loan guaranteed by the State ".

"At the origin of this critical situation, recent choices by the government which penalize seasonal mountain businesses," continued the press release released on Tuesday by the Union sport et cycle.

And to criticize in particular "the new calculation of the solidarity fund", "unjust and largely insufficient to cover the charges incumbent on these companies".

In the end, the leaders calculated that "the state aid received to date only covers 15% of the annual turnover of these companies".

The ski lift operators, the most directly affected by the shutdown of their facilities decided to fight the Covid-19 epidemic, saw their specific aid opened at the end of March.
