We are quickly approaching 100,000 deaths.

France exceeded the 99,000 death mark on Monday since the start of the Covid-19 epidemic, while the number of patients in intensive care continues to increase and now exceeds 5,900, according to figures released Monday by Public Health France (SPF ).

Almost 6,000 patients for 8,000 intensive care beds

The health agency recorded on Monday 385 additional deaths of Covid-19 patients in the last 24 hours, bringing the total since the start of the epidemic to 99,163.

The number of patients in intensive care has increased to 5,916 according to the SPF database.

This indicator, which had not been so high since April 17, 2020, should increase further in the coming days, even if the government hopes to contain it below the peak of the first wave (7,000 patients in sheaves on 7 and 8 April 2020).

At present, the capacity of resuscitation services in French hospitals has been increased to 8,000 beds, all pathologies combined.

The total number of people hospitalized with a Covid-19 diagnosis also increased, to 31,262, very close to the peaks of the first (32,000) and second epidemic wave in the fall.
