A special exhibition will be held at the Tokyo National Museum from the 13th to introduce the whole picture of the national treasure picture scroll "Choju-Giga" that dynamically depicts anthropomorphic animals, and all four volumes will be released at the same time.

"Choju-Giga", which is handed down at Kozanji Temple in Kyoto, is a four-volume national treasure picture scroll drawn from the late Heian period to the Kamakura period. ..

At the special exhibition starting on the 13th at the Tokyo National Museum, all the scenes of the four volumes, which are over 44 meters long, will be exhibited at the same time for the first time as an exhibition, and you can compare the characteristics of each volume.

Of these, the "Komaki", which depicts monkeys playing in the water and rabbits and frogs wrestling, is the original picture scroll that you can see while rolling up by watching it on the "moving walkway". You can enjoy how to enjoy it.

In addition, "Shortcuts" that have been separated from the scrolls and remade as hanging scrolls, and "models" that convey the scenes that have already been lost will be exhibited so that you can think about the original appearance of the picture scrolls.

Takahiro Tsuchiya, director of the painting and sculpture department at the Tokyo National Museum, said, "It may be a precious opportunity to see all four scenes at once. I want you to see the real thing and enjoy your own story. "

The special exhibition "All about National Treasure Choju-Giga" at the Tokyo National Museum will be held from the 13th to the 30th of next month by prior reservation.
