Miss Papua New Guinea was stripped of her crown after sharing a video clip of her on the "TikTok" application, according to the British newspaper "The Guardian".

The newspaper added that the Miss Pacific Islands Committee postponed the reason for withdrawing the title from 25-year-old Lucy Maino, because it was not appropriate for her to appear through a video clip while dancing, adding that the committee's main goal is to enable women to contribute. Lucy Maino deleted the video after the reactions of some social media pioneers, stripping it of the title that she won in 2019.

Some of the social media users criticized the committee for not supporting Maeno after it was attacked over the video. A women's rights defender said: "The committee could have dealt with the matter better by identifying the clause that it violated."
