The Saint-Gaudens hospital (Haute-Garonne) suffered a cyberattack on Thursday, leading to the closure of its IT services.

However, patient care was able to continue.

The computer attack affected the servers of the hospital center, "with a message asking to pay a ransom in bitcoin", according to the prosecutor of Saint-Gaudens, Christophe Amunzateguy, who received a complaint filed by the hospital.

Disturbances beyond the weekend

“As early as yesterday morning, we decided to shut down the servers, to prevent the spread of the computer virus, explains Stéphanie Baux, director of economic services and logistics.

We have stopped all the computing and telephony, which are connected, so all the computers are now off ”.

Telephony has been back in service since Thursday, but not computers.

Without a server, administrative services are forced to function in writing.

“When we need a result from a lab, it will arrive by fax or in writing,” explains Stéphanie Baux.

The hospital is currently asking the Samu to redirect patients to other hospital structures, while the cyberattack is under control, probably beyond the weekend.

Cyber attacks have increased in recent months.

After the Dax hospital in February, the Pierre Fabre group suffered a computer attack on March 31, causing the shutdown of a large part of its pharmaceutical and cosmetic production.
