Recently, Guiyang Customs seized a giant beetle measuring 19.5 cm long in the postal channel.

The on-site customs officer used a combination of CT intelligent image review + precise deployment control and found that an email declared as "groceries" showed a shadow of a suspected insect contour on the CT machine image.

After opening and inspection, a giant beetle was found in the postal packet.

After preliminary identification, the beetle is P. halberdii, one of the largest beetles in the world, and its power is great.

Because the source of the giant beetle is unknown and has not been quarantined by the relevant departments of the exporting country or region, the parcel has been temporarily detained for further processing.

With the rise of "exotic pet fever" in recent years, "exotic pets" such as beetles and spiders have been sought after by domestic enthusiasts.

Some domestic enthusiasts and operators purchase and deliver live animals from abroad through postal channels.

However, such "exotic pets" are very likely to carry pathogenic microorganisms and harmful organisms due to their unknown origin and have not been quarantined by relevant departments of the exporting country or region. Industry and the ecological environment will cause serious harm.
