In Chichibu City, Saitama Prefecture, a drawer made of locally produced wood was given to first graders in order to familiarize themselves with locally produced wood.

Of these, at Minami Elementary School in Chichibu City, after the entrance ceremony, 32 new first graders were handed a drawer made of cedar that was cut down in the city.

You can put it in your desk to organize your stationery, and a first-year girl said, "It smells like a good tree."

Chichibu City has been conducting a business to distribute toys made of wood to families with babies in order to familiarize them with wood since childhood, and this time it was given as part of that.

The drawer means that even after graduating from elementary school, you can use it at home, such as a bottle of wine.

Takao Tomita, chief of the Forest Development Division of Chichibu City, said, "I want you to have a rich and enjoyable school life while feeling the scent of trees spreading throughout the classroom."
