Un été anglais

Her favorite quote:

You flew too close to the sun and you burned yourself;

it was you who made me a creature of ashes.

Why this book?

  • Because it made me think of

    A Summer 42

     or

    The Laureate

     through

the love and desire that a 15 year old can have for an attractive 40 year old woman.

  • Because it was a pleasure to go back to the 1960s

    in England.

The author offers us a perfect description of the places of this period.

A perfectly mastered architectural flashback accompanied by the unique atmosphere that we could feel at that time.

  • Because I have read

    Two Boys Without a Story

    , another novel

by this author, and I really like the way he writes.

His stories are often rooted in adolescence and the experiences that come with it and I find that he has a very humanistic and understanding view of youth.

  • Because the “So British” spirit is superbly described.

Atmosphere of the time, clothes, music, places… One has the impression of being there, because the descriptions are always well detailed.

  • Because I loved the end,

    but I won't say more because it's a secret ...
