Find the tranquility of the first confinement.

Last spring, the many species of birds that inhabit the Glénan archipelago in Finistère had benefited from exceptional tranquility.

This calm is all the more important for terns, ring-necked plots, oystercatchers or gulls which make their nests on the ground and are particularly sensitive to disturbance during the breeding season from March to August.

In order for this situation to continue, the Prefecture of Finistère has decided to follow the example of the municipality of Fouesnant, which decided last year to close certain beaches all summer to protect flora and fauna.

Beaches closed for two summers in a row

Two prefectural decrees were signed on March 19 to prohibit access to the beaches and rocks on the Ile des Moutons and on the Ilot de la Croix from April 1 to August 31.

"This restriction will apply in 2021 and 2022", specifies the prefecture of Finistère in a press release.

However, the authorities specify that navigation and the anchoring of boats remain possible as well as swimming, diving or kayaking from his boat "but avoiding approaching the islets".

To enforce the ban, "regular checks will be carried out," state services warn.
