According to Prime Minister Markus Söder, Bavaria will sign a preliminary contract with a company in Illertissen for the purchase of the Russian vaccine Sputnik V on Wednesday.
"If Sputnik is approved in Europe, the Free State of Bavaria will receive additional vaccination doses through this company - I think there are 2.5 million vaccination doses - probably in July in order to increase the additional vaccination capacities in Bavaria," said the CSU Politician in Munich.
The Russian vaccine has not yet received approval from the European Medicines Agency EMA.
The plant in Illertissen would then produce the vaccine on behalf of the Sputnik developers.
