  • Morgan Large, a journalist for the Breton radio station RKB, claims to be the victim of an attempted sabotage after the discovery of the unscrewing of the bolts of his car wheels.

  • The journalist is known for having investigated agriculture and agri-food, very powerful sectors of the Breton economy.

  • A rally brought together more than 800 people in Rostrenen on Tuesday.

In radio, that never happens.

At noon, listeners to RKB (Radio Kreizh Breizh) however heard a big blank.

A militant act on the part of the Breton radio station which wanted to show its support for its journalist Morgan Large.

This Tuesday at noon, the Breton woman was not at the microphone of the radio based in Saint-Nicodème, in the Côtes d'Armor, but on the market place of Rostrenen to thank the hundreds of people gathered in her honor.

These trade unionists, journalists and ordinary citizens were gathered to denounce the malicious act of which this journalist specializing in investigations into the agrifood industry was the victim.

On March 31, she found the bolts of one of the wheels of her car completely unscrewed.

One fell in front of her house, the other on the road that leads to her house.

"I can tell you that chills you.

It is no longer the hidden threat there, ”explains Morgan Large, who will file a complaint.

Reached by phone after the rally which would have brought together more than 800 people, the journalist is moved by this surge of support.

But she is not at ease.

After some hesitation, she explains.

"Am I scared?

I alternate between the times when things are going well and the times when I'm scared.

I don't know if I should say it but yes, I'm scared.

If this act was done for that, it is successful ”.

Friday, Reporters Without Borders did not hesitate to speak of "endangerment" to describe this probable act of sabotage perpetrated in front of the journalist.

The trail of material failure, no one believes it.

“We have been doing disturbing subjects and threatening us for years.

We have already lost public subsidies because of that.

A mayor even told us live, on the air a few years ago.

Doesn't that pose a question?

".

Malevolent and intimidating acts

This is not the first time that the journalist has said that she has been targeted by malicious acts and intimidation, citing her dog's intoxication, the opening of her animal enclosures, or intrusion attempts. in his small bilingual association radio.

If she refuses to point out any culprit for this act of sabotage, the journalist knows that she is the subject of special attention from the agrifood industry.

A juggernaut of the Breton economy that the editor has often scratched during her investigations.

And that she did not hesitate to criticize when she testified in the documentary

Brittany, a sacrificed land

, broadcast in December on France 5.

“I don't know where these threats are coming from.

But I do know that labor inspectors had already been the victims of their car wheel unbolted while they were visiting a tomato greenhouse a few years ago.

The agricultural world is on the defensive.

There are issues, social problems.

The mobilization that I experienced today proves it.

There are more and more people who are wondering, who express their weariness in the face of these behaviors, ”explains the journalist.

Moreover, she would have liked "for the agricultural world to dissociate itself" from this act.

Only the Confédération Paysanne union did so.

Other cases of threats in the region

In recent months, the subject of surveys around the food industry has been debated in Brittany.

Recently, a German journalist was allegedly "insulted, pushed around and followed to her home by a farmer" in Glomel.

A few weeks ago, journalist Inès Léraud was the subject of a defamation complaint from the Breton wholesaler Chéritel, whose practices she had denounced in an article published on Bastamag.

The group had announced the abandonment of the proceedings the same day of the hearing.

Three trade unionists are still being prosecuted for the same facts and are waiting to hear the court's decision.

“A lot of people are afraid to speak”, recently explained Inès Léraud.

She and others are quick to accuse the agribusiness lobby of having infiltrated all branches of society: local city councils, banks and even regional media.

An empire.
