The Heritage Foundation unveiled on Monday the list of the eighteen sites selected to benefit from the fourth edition of the Heritage Mission, for the safeguarding of heritage in danger, led by Stéphane Bern.

Two chapels in La Brigue, a town in the Alpes-Maritimes, were selected for this edition, those of the Annunciation and the Assumption.

These two religious buildings are in need of renovation.

The Heritage Foundation states: "The slate roofs are no longer waterproof and even have holes that allow large quantities of water to infiltrate and percolate through the vaults and walls supporting the sumptuous decorations".

The passage of storm Alex in October also weakened the buildings.

In total, the restoration is estimated at 1.2 million euros according to France 3 Provence-Alpes-Côte-d'Azur.

The state will subsidize half and the department, 30%.

Renaud Muselier, president of the regional council of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, also assured that the region would commit financially to the work, without specifying the sum.

The two chapels are the only sites selected in Paca.

The endowments will be known in September during the draw for the 2021 Heritage Loto.
