On the night of Tuesday 6 April, someone tried to saw down the sculpture Sinnataggen by the artist Gustav Vigeland.

Sinnataggen is located in Vigelandsparken in central Olso and is one of Norway's most famous works of art.

Clear saw marks have been discovered on the sculpture's left ankle, and according to a press release, the work will now be removed temporarily to be examined.

Sinnataggen is a protected cultural monument in Norway and the incident has been reported to the police.

- We hope to solve this matter as quickly as possible and get the sculpture back in its right place again, says Jarle Strømodden, museum director at Vigelandsmuseet, in the press release.

Sinnataggen represents a little angry boy and is Gustav Vigeland's most famous sculpture.

The sculpture was placed as one of 58 bronze sculptures in Vigelandsparken during the 1940s.
