Bedridden people, on oxygen, infused ... The government now relies on nurses to prescribe and administer the vaccine, at home, to people who cannot move around.

The doses can be recovered from Wednesday.

About ten million people are affected.

REPORTAGE

The government wants to develop home vaccination for all those who can not travel, and nurses will be able to recover their doses on Wednesday.

Many French people can benefit from this vaccination against Covid-19, but they have not yet entered the radar.

And the number of people possibly affected is in the millions.

Limited time for vaccination

Among those aged 75 and over, nearly 40% are still not vaccinated, and these are the people who sometimes need to be taken at home.

"People who can be bedridden, who can be infused, who cannot easily be moved by ambulance, people who are on oxygen ...", lists Catherine Kirnidis, president of the Union of liberal nurses, at the microphone of Europe 1. So, she continues, we will have to organize the tours to the millimeter.

"The difficulty that will arise is that we have a limited time to organize the vaccination since the lifespan of an opened vial is limited in time", she specifies.

"We have to use the vial within six hours, including the AstraZeneca, and so for a vial that has ten doses, you have to have ten people vaccinated within the next six hours."

"About ten million people" affected

In total, it is a potential for vaccination of several million people, details Patrick Chamboredon, who heads the National Order of Nurses.

"We know that in France, there are five to six million French people who do not have an attending physician," he explains.

"We know that there are a lot of patients who are affected by the digital divide, so we can think of around ten million people."

Finally, nurses can also vaccinate in their office, by appointment.
