On Europe 1, the actress Alice Belaïdi came to present the new season of the series "Hippocrates", which tells the daily life of an internal medicine department at the hospital.

During the filming, installed in a hospital in Seine-Saint-Denis, the actors were able to discuss with real caregivers struggling with the coronavirus epidemic a few corridors further.

INTERVIEW

After a very remarkable first season,

Hippocrates is

making a comeback.

The series of the former doctor Thomas Lilti, recounting the daily life of the internal medicine department of the Poincaré hospital and its interns embodied in particular by Louise Bourgoin and Alice Belaïdi returns on Canal + for 8 episodes of 52 minutes.

But from fiction to reality, there is sometimes only one step, and on the set, installed in a real hospital, the actors were very close to the hospital services overwhelmed by the first wave of the coronavirus epidemic.

They were able to discuss with real health professionals telling them the extent of the drama unfolding a few corridors further.

The shooting of season 2 took place in an abandoned wing of the Robert-Ballanger hospital, in Aulnay-sous-Bois, in Seine-Saint-Denis, a department particularly affected by the epidemic.

It had started in early 2020 but was quickly interrupted by the first containment in March.

"We saw it rise," recalls Alice Belaïdi, guest of

Culture Media

, on Europe 1, about the epidemic.

"We were surrounded by real nurses, real nursing assistants with us on the set, they told us what was happening at home".

And to add: "We were surprised to be confined, but we felt it coming".

"They told us about their nightmare"

On their return in July, the actors had the opportunity to exchange again with caregivers still marked by the extent of the health crisis.

"When we met, it was very strong, they told us about their experience, their nightmare", testifies the actress again.

In this new season, the

Hippocrates

series also

tells, in its own way, the hospital crisis and the lack of resources denounced for years by the staff of the sector.

The hospital is under water, "says Alice Belaïdi. The department of her character must therefore face the transfer of an emergency department after water damage within the latter," and we will be faced with emergencies that we absolutely do not control. "" This hospital which is drowning, we will try to save it with the few means that we are given ", concludes Alice Belaïdi.
