In France, many cultural places have been occupied for several weeks by intermittent entertainment workers worried about their future.

Europe 1 went to Marseille, to the La Criée theater, where the latter, present for three weeks, are ready to occupy the place for a long time and denounce their "precariousness".

REPORTAGE

Angry at the closure of cultural venues due to Covid-19 and worried about their future, intermittent entertainment workers continue to occupy many theaters across France.

In Marseille, despite the mid-May horizon given by Emmanuel Macron for a possible reopening of the rooms, they are still installed in the La Criée theater, located in the Old Port.

And their demands mainly relate to their difficult financial situation.

"There is a huge concern because we will all find ourselves in a precarious situation which is terrible", alarms Johanna, 30 years old, actress and occupant of the place.

"Looks like nobody cares!"

Like others, it therefore no longer simply calls for the reopening of cultural venues, but also and above all for the abandonment of the unemployment insurance reform.

"We have a lot of anger, that's for sure. There, we occupy the theater but we can see it well, it seems that nobody cares!"

So Johanna says, this situation "can go on for a very long time".

To do this, everything is very organized.

"There is a whole place of life. Up there, on the mezzanine, it is our room", indicates the actress.

The first arrivals have been there for three weeks already.

Three busy theaters in Marseille

In total, three theaters are occupied in Marseille.

Europe 1 thus met a technician who is camping in another establishment in the city, that of Merlan in the northern districts.

"I work in events, more specifically in festivals. My employers have already told me that we were not working this summer. So yes, my situation is critical," he laments.

"Before August 31, I would be surprised if I was doing my hours, so that means that at the end of September I am at RSA."

In these theaters, artistic performances and other workshops are organized by intermittents to make themselves heard.

The opportunity also to bring a little life in places closed now for several months.
