A very violent burglary.

Bernard Tapie and his wife were assaulted during the night from Saturday to Sunday during a burglary at their home in Combs-la-Ville in Seine-et-Marne.

They were asleep when four people broke in at around 12:30 am and beat and tied them up before leaving with their loot, a source close to the investigation told AFP.

Investigation for aggravated theft with violence and forcible confinement

Ms. Tapie managed to get rid of her ties to go to a neighbor from where she raised the alert.

Bernard Tapie's wife, slightly injured, was taken to hospital.

The businessman, former Minister of the City and deputy, for his part refused to be taken to hospital.

The amount of the loot was not disclosed.

The Versailles PJ was seized of this investigation for aggravated theft with violence and forcible confinement, another source close to the investigation told AFP.
