China News Service, Hong Kong, April 3. Hong Kong Hospital Authority (HA) Chairman Fan Hongling revealed in his blog on the 3rd that the Hospital Authority is deploying the second ten-year hospital development plan. Add more than 9,000 beds to public hospitals.

  Fan Hongling said that the crowded environment of public hospitals is an old problem that Hong Kong has been facing. Especially during the peak winter service period, the supply of hospital beds is tight, and some patients may have to sleep in temporary beds in the corridors. These conditions are really not ideal.

  In order to solve the problem of supporting hospital hardware, the SAR government announced the first ten-year hospital development plan in its 2016 policy address, and earmarked 200 billion Hong Kong dollars for the development of large-scale public hospitals in a timely manner.

Fan Hongling revealed that the first ten-year hospital development plan has a total of more than 10 projects. Most of the projects have been carried out in the past few years, and some projects are now almost completed.

  He said that when all the projects of the first ten-year hospital development plan are completed, a total of more than 6,000 beds can be added to public hospitals, which will alleviate the lack of beds and space in public hospitals.

  Fan Hung Ling also said that a series of smart hospital services have been piloted in Tin Shui Wai Hospital, Tseung Kwan O Hospital and Queen Elizabeth Hospital for some time in the past, and these experiences will be applied to newly built hospitals.

  Fan Hongling pointed out that the first ten-year hospital development plan is only the first step in upgrading hospital hardware, equipment and space. The Hospital Authority is deploying the second ten-year hospital development plan. More hospitals will be included in reconstruction or expansion. Scope, it is estimated that after the completion of the second ten-year hospital development plan, more than 9,000 beds will be added to public hospitals.
