It would seem that Mikhail Saakashvili's supporters from the United National Movement party should have had no complaints against Vladimir Pozner, known for his moderate opposition.

He criticizes the Kremlin's policies and is a consistent adherent of a pro-Western course for Russia.

Rather, he is ready to act as an ally of the Georgian right-wing radicals.

However, the "nationals" are not up to these nuances.

The political scandal with their participation is important for them.

And the more disgusting it looks, the better, since the highest level of media noise is generated by incidents with a heightened element of beastliness.

Two previous years, the Russian TV presenter had already come to Tbilisi to celebrate his own birthday.

In general, Russian tourists have long chosen Georgia as one of their favorite tourist routes.

A beautiful country with a population whose hospitality is legendary.

True, this is more hypocrisy and acting than genuine hospitality, but determining this, if you are not deeply familiar with the subject, is rather difficult.

This time Pozner was unable to celebrate his 87th birthday due to the fact that he (most likely by accident) was noticed in the hotel by one of the "nationals".

By the way, the United National Movement is a semi-Nazi party created by Mikhail Saakashvili.

The key point in its ideological platform is hatred of Russia, the idea of our country as a totalitarian empire, which in the past kept Georgia almost in slavery, and now seeks to take it under complete control.

After Saakashvili's defeat in the parliamentary elections in 2012 and his subsequent resignation, the "nationals" immediately became a marginal political force, which was pushed to the deep sidelines by the "Georgian Dream" of the oligarch Bidzina Ivanishvili.

However, the situation has changed in nine years, since the current ruling team has not demonstrated any serious success in improving the economy.

"United National Movement - United Opposition" has gained popularity again.

In the parliamentary elections last year, they managed to gain 27%.

However, to this day they have failed to mobilize any convincing number of people for their protest actions - at most 2-3 thousand people come out to protest.

Therefore, betting on a scandal remains an effective means of attracting attention.

In their opinion, by expelling the Russian TV presenter from Tbilisi, not allowing him to celebrate his birthday, they won a serious political victory over Russia.

That is, these are their large-scale goals and objectives - to push some recognizable, media character into the neck, in order to then declare that in his person Russia is defeated and humiliated.

In 2019, a similar story happened with State Duma deputy and chairman of the Interparliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy Sergei Gavrilov.

He was invited to Tbilisi to participate in the work of the assembly.

After Gavrilov took his place on the podium, Saakashvili's thugs burst into the hall and started a fight.

Gavrilov was injured and had to hastily leave Georgia.

Anti-Russian sentiments in Georgian society are not as widespread as people think.

Nothing threatens Russian tourists here, they calmly travel around the country without being exposed to any dangers.

In addition, hundreds of thousands of Georgians work in Russia, as their homeland has high unemployment and miserable wages.

All this partly helps to overcome the legacy of Saakashvili, who tried to raise hatred towards Russia and its citizens to the maximum level.

After his departure, relations between the countries returned to normal, although there was no political rapprochement.

Georgia continues to move towards joining NATO and the EU.

But the fact that the Georgian authorities have ceased to stake on a constant conflict with Moscow categorically does not suit the "nationals".

Therefore, they are trying to the best of their ability to demonstrate that Russia is still hated in Georgia.

It turns out pretty convincing.
