According to Qin Wei, a descendant of the anti-Japanese aviation martyr, his grandfather, Qin Shaoting, was the chief mechanic of the National Revolutionary Army Air Force. In January 1945, Qin Shaoting died while fighting against the Japanese in Ganzhou, Jiangxi. He was only 37 years old.

  I heard from my grandma that grandpa sent a mechanic to get on the plane at the airport. On the eighth day of the twelfth lunar month in 1945, the man he wanted to send fell ill. Under such circumstances, he went on board the plane without hesitation. Never come back later.

  [Commentary] Qin Wei told reporters that she often heard stories about the War of Resistance from her family. On that day, she also brought a bunch of yellow chrysanthemums to remember her ancestors and pray for peace.

  [Explanation] The Nanjing Aviation Martyrs Cemetery, located at the northern foot of the Purple Mountain in Nanjing, was built in 1932.

In August 1995, the "Monument of Anti-Japanese Aviation Martyrs" was completed next to Nanjing Aviation Martyrs Cemetery.

There are 30 monuments attached to the monument. These 3-meter-high black granite steles are engraved in Chinese, Russian, and English with more than 3,000 Chinese, American, and Soviet airlines who died from the Songhu War of Resistance to September 1945.
