On March 31, 80 resource fir seedlings were transplanted to the "ancestral homeland" in the Guangxi Yinzhulaoshan Resource Fir National Nature Reserve.

This is the first time that China has returned to the field since the discovery of resource firs. It has important scientific research value for expanding the population of resource firs, studying the development and evolution of flora in the northern hemisphere, biodiversity, and the systematic evolution of firs.

Abiesziyuanensis (Abiesziyuanensis) is a famous relict and endangered plant in southern China. Abiesziyuanensis is an environmentally sensitive tree species. It was first discovered in Yinzhulao Mountain in Ziyuan County, Guangxi in 1977 and named after it. It was the periodical advance and retreat of Quaternary glaciers in southern China. "Living evidence" and important experimental materials for exploring the cyclical changes of global climate.

At present, the resource fir population of Yinzhulao Mountain has been severely degraded, and the number of plants has dropped sharply from more than 1,000 to 86, and it has fallen into a critically endangered situation.

According to reports, in recent years, Guangxi has actively carried out monitoring and protection of resource firs.

Guangxi Institute of Botany has established resource fir seedling breeding bases in Yinzhulaoshan Resource Fir National Nature Reserve and Qianjiadong National Nature Reserve.

The fir research team of the institute has invented the pollination and breeding technology of resource fir, and obtained a large number of active seeds for the first time in 2014. In 2015, more than 2,100 resource fir seedlings were cultivated.

At the same time, more than 700 seedlings sprouted under the mother forest after the seeds of some pollinated cones of the wild pollinator mother tree were scattered.

Guangxi plans to complete the field return to plant more than 12,000 fir seedlings by 2030, and the number of healthy individuals in the wild will reach more than 10,000.
