This means that 100 infected people theoretically infect 97 more people.

The value represents the occurrence of the infection 8 to 16 days ago.

If it is below 1 for a longer period of time, the infection process subsides;

if it is consistently higher, the number of cases increases.

According to data from the RKI, the highest seven-day incidence in Germany is in the

district of Greiz (599.6)

in Thuringia.

The federal state is in first place in the table of federal states with an incidence of 254.

This is followed by Saxony (190) and Saxony-Anhalt (162).
