While many inns and hotels are in trouble due to the influence of the new coronavirus, at a long-established hot spring inn in Hakone Town, Kanagawa Prefecture, we will start to restore the huge bran picture drawn about 100 years ago, not to lose to the corona virus. I decided that.

This bran painting is said to have been drawn at the time of reconstruction after the Great Kanto Earthquake.

Motoyu Kansuiro, a long-established hot spring inn in Hakone, is a four-story wooden structure built in the Taisho era. It is said that it has gained popularity from outside tourists.

However, due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection and the effects of the two states of emergency, the number of customers has dropped to about half of the average year and the deficit continues.

Under such circumstances, the inn started a new project in March to restore a huge bran painting in order to keep up with the corona sickness and work positively.

The bran paintings on the two walls of the hall were painted by Japanese-style painter Ryosen Senda in the Taisho era.

After about 100 years, tears and discoloration became noticeable, so I decided to restore it to its former appearance by restoration.

This work was created when a building that was partially destroyed by the Great Kanto Earthquake was rebuilt, and depicts a white plum tree and a group of cormorants flying.

Since the restoration work is done by a professional contractor, the inn is also using crowdfunding to raise funds, and when the spread of infection has subsided, as a thank-you item to see the restored bran picture. Meals and accommodations are available.

People who have stayed in the past have participated in the fund, and they have received supportive comments such as "It's a difficult time, but please do your best."

Mr. Satoshi Umemura of "Motoyu Kansuiro" said, "After the Great Kanto Earthquake, by correcting the bran picture that was drawn to try hard again, it is a difficult time for the corona whirlpool, but I hope that many people will see it again. I want to do my best. "
