The message from the direction of the departmental services of national education, reproduced in the publication, describes a "very tense" situation in terms of staff due to the Covid-19 epidemic.
It issues several instructions to education staff: do not "close" class, "except instructions from the health unit for cases of Covid" - in which case the students must be "distributed as intelligently as possible in the classes, in the compliance with the health protocol ”- and“ orally ”invite families to keep their child at home for“ a day or two ”when they can.

This message comes “in a context of growing pressure from the consequences of the health crisis on replacement.
The wording of this letter, which responds to a desire to support teams in the field as closely as possible in a complicated period, is however awkward, ”acknowledges the Toulouse academy.
Alexia Seguin, departmental co-secretary of the SNUipp-FSU 31 teachers' union, specifies for her part that this message was deemed "extremely shocking" by the local educational community.
"We are explicitly asked, in writing, not to make waves and to silence the closure of classes due to a lack of staff for parents!"

A brew that "poses a danger for everyone"
The representative of SNUipp-FSU 31, in favor of maintaining the opening of schools, especially deplores that the contradictory instructions received from the hierarchy oblige teachers to bypass the health protocol in force against Covid-19.
"It's been almost a year that we have shifted the hours of recess, entry and exit of students to avoid mixing, and we are asked, in defiance of these security measures, to continue to welcome students when a class is closed, mixing them into those that remain open, which poses a danger to everyone.
There is great hypocrisy from the Ministry of Education, which only communicates on class closures linked to Covid-19 but not on those closed for lack of replacement, ”concludes Alexia Seguin.
The Toulouse Academy, for its part, ensures that "the departmental services of national education of Haute-Garonne are fully mobilized on the issues of replacement" and that, "for several months, faced with the health crisis, all replacement resources are deployed and the department also benefits from additional (contractual) resources in order to ensure the continuity of learning ”.
