Ruth Elkrief joins LCI after leaving BFMTV

Journalist Ruth Elkrief, who left BFMTV last month, will join competing channel LCI, a year before the presidential election, her deputy director Fabien Namias announced on Wednesday in an interview with Le Figaro.

After 15 years within BFMTV, this journalist who had been a pillar of the Altice group's news channel since its creation, had "decided to turn the page", according to the direction of the media, an announcement which had surprised the media sphere .

The suspense over her projects only lasted a few weeks: she will join LCI as an interviewer, columnist and advisor to management.

It "will participate, from May 1, in the coverage of regional - if they take place -, and will focus more broadly on the major issues of the country," said Fabien Namias, before taking the reins, at the start of the school year. September, of a new "daily meeting" which will be devoted to the presidential campaign and will include the interview of a prominent personality.

It is a form of homecoming for Ruth Elkrief who had been recruited in 1987 at TF1 by Michèle Cotta and who had participated in the launch of LCI in 1994. She then went on RTL, before being recruited by BFMTV.

On this channel, the 60-year-old journalist had notably presented the daily program

for 10 years until the start of the 2020 school year. In September, she had been replaced by the co-host of

Alain Marschall on the edge news from 7 p.m., after having suffered competition from Eric Zemmour, who arrived in this niche on CNEWS in October 2019. She then presented a weekly meeting on Saturday at 1 p.m., before being replaced in January by Apolline from Malherbe.
