Bai Jingting: Jumping out of the "frame" of youth drama

To be an actor must "break the circle" and go out to see life.

  ——————————

"Xiao Bai" Bai Jingting has been a bit busy recently.

In the last second, Xu Tan, as a "growth teenager" in "Glory Ping Pong", pursued his dreams, and in the next second, he became the special police elite Xing Kelei in "You Are My City Camp", guarding the city.

The two dramas are broadcast on the same schedule, and there is no sense of collusion.

Looking at Bai Jingting’s "character resume", the early roles seem to be closely related to the word "juvenile": Qiao Ran in "The Year in a Hurry", Gao Xiang in "Whose Youth Is Not Lost", and "Summer Solstice" "Sunshine Boy" Lu Zhiang... In recent years, he has jumped out of the "box" of youth drama and challenged newcomers, athletes and special police officers in the workplace.

Bai Jingting was born in 1993 and graduated from the Music School of Capital Normal University. At first, his parents expected him to become a music teacher with a stable job and income.

After enrolling, he found that his major and his ideals were quite different, so he became an actor according to his interests, and participated in his first work "The Year in a Hurry" in 2014.

He is very cautious about the choice of the script: "It takes at least 3-5 months to invest in a work. Every decision requires homework and a very careful choice."

There is a lot of time to consider for the next play of "Glory Ping Pong".

At the moment when he saw the script, Bai Jingting felt that it would be difficult to encounter the same type of subject matter if he missed it. "I hope I can seize this opportunity when I am young."

The play tells the passionate story of sports teenagers struggling and pursuing their dreams on the road of ping-pong. Bai Jingting's "Xu Tan" confessed: "Ping-pong did not choose me, but I can choose ping-pong."

When Bai Jingting was a child, he was a sports student specializing in track and field. He also dreamed of becoming a professional athlete, but failed to achieve it for various reasons.

Playing the "growth" athlete Xu Tan in "Glory Ping Pong" seems to have fulfilled an unfinished dream when he was young.

Filming dramas of this kind of theme is not easy, and all the abilities of the characters require pre-training and polishing of the actors.

When filming "Glory Ping Pong", the crew arranged for the actors to have in-depth exchanges and learning with retired outstanding players.

"System practice is about two hours a day, spontaneous practice is endless, seven or eight hours are possible."

On the set, Bai Jingting and Xu Weizhou supervised each other's practice, "I was practicing when I was filming him, and he was practicing when I was filming me. As long as I have time, I will put into training."

The results of the practice were remarkable-"At the end there was a very tight match, and by then the director found that everyone's movements could be connected and the effect was very good."

In order to create Xing Kelei of "You Are My City Camp", Bai Jingting arrived in Nanjing before the start of the machine and followed the special police professionals to learn and maintain a sense of physical strength through intense exercise every day.

After six years of groping on the road of acting, Bai Jingting feels that the most important thing is "accumulation." Everyone accumulates through time and liberates his own nature bit by bit in the field of expertise.

Every time you shoot a film, every time you enter a role, you need to liberate your nature once to be more confident and comfortable.

In addition to actors, Bai Jingting has always had a "director's dream" and admires British director Christopher Nolan most.

For Bai Jingting, the actors focus on acting, while the director is co-creating.

In the past, although I have tried my best, my performances have not yet achieved the character effects I hope to explain to everyone, and these can be achieved through the identity and means of the director.

In his free time, Bai Jingting will learn the knowledge he is interested in, "I think this is also a way to broaden his horizons. The 20s are when the learning ability is relatively strong. If you choose to enjoy life particularly at ease at this time, you will want to learn later. It's very hard."

When talking about life as an actor, Bai Jingting said, "Our life is relatively simple, and the field is relatively small. Sometimes we want to break the circle and go out and see."

After experiencing the special 2020 under the epidemic situation, Bai Jingting has been thinking: How to make a story and write a character well?

During this year, Bai Jingting learned a lot of moving true stories and "seeed" different aspects of life.

"To go deep into life, sometimes life is much more exciting than imagined stories."
