The Tokyo Metropolitan Government announced on the 29th that it has confirmed that eight new people are infected with the new mutated coronavirus.

Of the eight, one woman in her 50s has traveled abroad and returned from the East African region on the 4th of this month.



The remaining seven have no travel history, but one man in his twenties is a close contact with a man who has returned from Pakistan and has already been confirmed to be infected with the mutant virus.



According to the city, none of the eight people have contact with an unspecified number of people.



It also means that the health center is investigating whether there are any close contacts.



As a result, a total of 41 people have been confirmed infected with the mutant virus in Tokyo.
