The Gabon team, already qualified for the next African Cup of Nations (CAN 2021), lost 2-0 in Angola on March 29, 2021, in group D of the CAN 2021 qualifiers. At the same time, an already eliminated DRC side ended their campaign on a better note with a 1-0 victory over Gambia.

The Gabonese, already qualified before this 2-0 defeat in Angola, leave the first place to Gambia, defeated 1-0 in the DRC.
Gabonese and Gambians have the same number of points (10), the same goal difference (+2) but the Scorpions have scored more goals (9) than the Panthers (8) during these qualifiers.
Patrice Neveu's proteges gave in for the first time when Manuel Cafumana regained a flat-footed ball from a center back (1-0, 63rd).
Same scenario in the 71st minute with Loide Antonio Augusto at the reception: 2-0.
DR Congo ends on a better note
The Gambians, they cracked only on a penalty from Francis Kazadi (1-0, 45th + 2).
They could have equalized in the 55th minute but their goal was ruled out for offside.
What does it matter to the Scorpions who are preparing to experience their first African Cup.
Their coach Tom Saintfiet has also seen his contract extended, following this feat.
On the Congolese side, this sad campaign ended on a better note, with more enterprising Leopards.
It remains to be seen whether the statements of Marcel Tisserand, their captain, who lamented the lack of organization around the selection, will be heard ... Because the qualifications for the 2022 World Cup begin in two months.
