On Thursday, 34,278 people received a dose of vaccine against Covid-19 in Occitanie, including around 30,000 first injections.

According to the Regional Health Agency (ARS), this is a record since the start of the campaign, which is expected to intensify when 930,000 doses have already been administered to 11.3% of the population.

In this race against time in the face of the pandemic, the latter is not weakening, on the contrary.

According to the latest report on Friday, 1,546 patients were hospitalized in Occitania due to coronavirus, including 318 in intensive care.

In one week, this represents a respective increase of 207 and 57 cases.

51 additional deaths were recorded in hospitals, for a total of 3,528 victims.

The deterioration is general, and the average number of positive cases per day has increased from 1,346 to 1,853 in one week, with a positivity rate also on the rise (6.2% against 5.7%).

The eastern part of the region currently concentrates the most concerns, in particular the departments of Hérault, Gard and Lozère, where the prefecture has decided to take reinforced measures: obligation to wear a mask in municipalities with more than 2,000 inhabitants, additional restrictions on sports activities, bans on flea markets, garage sales and non-food markets.
