Egypt: The rise in victims of the collapse of a 10-storey property in Suez Bridge

The Civil Protection Forces are still making every effort to search for survivors under the rubble

The victims of the collapse of a 10-storey residential property on Gesr El Suez Street in eastern Cairo increased to seven dead and 25 injured.

The Civil Protection Forces are still making efforts to search for victims from under the rubble of the property that collapsed in the early hours of Saturday morning.

A security source said that the Civil Protection Forces are still making every effort to search for citizens or victims from under the rubble, especially after their success in pulling out a number of citizens alive, including five from one family.

The source emphasized that it is not known until now the number of people who were present in the property during its collapse, whether residents or workers who were present in the factory below the property.

He pointed out that there is unconfirmed information that a number of residents of the property have left a few days before its collapse, which could reduce the number of victims if the information is correct.

A security source had said that eyewitnesses reported that they heard the sound of an explosion in an cheese factory at the bottom of the property, suggesting that it caused a strong earthquake that the residents of the area felt, and led to the collapse of the 10-storey property, indicating that the factory works for 24 hours and has about 40 workers.
